Is buying and reselling hockey tickets a good way to raise money for a charity?
Me and some other guys in my Viet troop (kind of like Boy Scouts, but all Viet) want to raise money for the less fortunate people in Vietnam (the people living in poverty). We have a $5000 budget.
I know that SJ Sharks tickets are in very high demand in San Jose. If we buy about 200 tickets at $23/ea (Face value) and resell them for $35/ea, we could raise 2-3k for charity. We would explain where the extra money would go to the people buying the tickets?
Would this be a smart idea? Is this breaking any laws? We want to be sure.
I think that’s illegal. Maybe you could buy a several sets of really good tickets, add a gift certificate for a nice dinner somehwere and add a couple of tee shirts and RAFFLE the packages off. You’d have to check the legality of that as well.
